St. James, one of the nation's best master-planned golf communities, is home to four of coastal North Carolina's best golf clubs: The Members Club, The Players Club, The Founders Club, and it's newest addition, The Reserve, opened in 2006. The Nicklaus designed golf course received its Audubon certification, as well as honors as the Best New Course in North Carolina by the NC Golf Panel.
The 18-hole golf course is known for its small pot bunkers and cleverly placed sand traps. The backdrop is classic coastal NC landscape of tall pines and hardwoods, marshland and creeks.
The strategic character of The Reserve Club is showcased on this opening par 4 hole. Favor the right side fairway from the tee to avoid OB right and a small lake on the left. Your second shot plays into a small dogleg to a two-tiered green surrounded by bunkers.
